FO: Crochet Mary Janes (modified)

I'm so proud of these -  I started a pair of modified crochet Mary Jane's a couple of months ago, following Stephanie from All About Ami's modified pattern (original from Little House By The Sea).

I stalled because I didn't have enough of the right yarn to make a pair - and also needed to make a couple of additional modifications to make the slippers fit. But finally I finished up this hot pink pair as a gift for my mum.

I am so happy with how they turned out, and it only took around 3 hours start to finish to make both slippers!

I used Debbie Bliss Cotton DK in a hot pink for the main, and white for the contrast, with a 5.5mm hook. I did an extra round of double crochet (single crochet, if you're used to American crochet terminology) before starting the contrast.

Thank you to Stephanie for inspiring me with her lovely adaptations!

Another redesign

Notice anything different? I have "redesigned" my blog again! I was using one of the dynamic views but it just felt a bit blank and not very easy to customise, so I decided to revert to a more basic template. Although I have noticed that a few photos are showing up oddly so please forgive any teething troubles!

Seedlings to plantlings

I think it is fair to say that I have become slightly obsessed with my seedlings. I planted some sunflower seeds a couple of weeks ago, partly to cheer up my poor sister who is stuck in the house with a broken shoulder at the moment.

Remember these?

Well they grew and grew and I finally transferred them to a pot outside against the sunny wall in my garden. And look at them now!

I will need to transfer them into their own pots - or a big trough maybe - pretty soon before they start fighting for space.

On the needles: Afternoon tea

I can't get enough of the patterns in the latest issue of Knitty... My latest cast on is this beautiful shawlette designed by Helen Stewart.

Remember this yarn?

I'm finally getting around to using it. Can't wait to see how my shawlette turns out. Here's how it looks so far....

Off the needles! FO: Gemini

I've finished! Hooray!! I am so, so pleased with the way my Gemini top turned out... what do you think?

This is my first top down knitting project, and the first garment I have ever knitted that I like enough to wear. I shall definitely be trying some more top down knitting and have already added some autumn projects to my queue from the designer, Jane Richmond.

Love it!
